How many streams will my song receive?

The number of streams varies for each campaign based on many factors including the strength of the song and which genres you select.

To date, Playlist Push has helped over 4,000 songs reach over 25 million listeners, however results will vary between each campaign depending on many variables. Please note: results are not guaranteed, curators are in full discretion of whether they choose to add songs or not.

Here are some of the top factors that will influence how many streams a campaign will generate:

Factors you (the artist) control:

  • The number of genres and playlists targeted

  • The strength/quality of the song

  • Selecting genres in your campaign settings that align well with your song

If your song is added to a playlist, the amount of streams will be influenced by the playlist curator and the activity of their listeners.

Factors controlled by the curators and their listeners:

  • Which position you are placed on their playlist

  • The duration that your song is kept on their playlist

  • The activity level of their playlist followers

Why the number of playlist followers will not be equal to the same number of streams you receive:

It's unrealistic to expect 50,000 listeners from a playlist with 50,000 followers. Please take in mind that on average playlists have an active listeners of around 10%.

  • Example: If you are added to a playlist with 50,000 followers, and it’s followers are 10% active, this playlist will has 5,000 active listeners per month.

How Track Positioning Influences your streams:

The position on which your song is placed in a playlist is very important, and of course the higher the better. People start dropping of at some point and this depends on what kind of playlist it is. For example, a workout playlist people would probably drop off pretty quick (after 1 hour of music, which is 20 songs) but a chill out music  playlist or easy going people would probably listen to more songs in the playlist because they listen much longer.

  • Example: If you are added to a playlist with 50,000 followers, and it’s followers are 10% active, this playlist will generate around 5,000 active listeners per month if your song is placed in the #1 position on the playlist and is kept on the playlist for one month. However, if the curator keeps you on the playlist in the #1 spot for 3 months, then you would receive around 15,000 listeners.

How the duration of your placement on a playlist influences your streams:

The position and duration is determined by the curators, if a curator loves your song they would probably add it higher on the playlist and you could stay on their list for a long time. Your song might move down the playlists at some point because the curator adds new songs higher than yours on their playlist.

  • Example: If you are added to a playlist with 50,000 followers are 10% are active, this playlist will generate around 5,000 listeners per month if your song is placed in the #1 position and is kept there for one month. However, if the curator keeps you on the playlist in the #1 spot for 3 months, then you would receive around 15,000 listeners.

Note: Curators are not required or incentivized to add songs to their playlists. Campaigns to do guarantee any placements.
